So imagine being unable to afford formula.
That’s exactly what happened to one mother who was battling aggressive cancer while caring for a newborn and a toddler. She faced an impossible challenge: she couldn’t nurse due to treatment, and she worried about how she would feed her baby.
Through Mamas for Mamas, a grassroots Canadian charity that supports mothers and caregivers facing poverty and crisis, she received regular formula deliveries, along with food and emotional support. Today, her baby is thriving, and she’s responding well to treatment — a reminder of how community support can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of families in need.
Early Nutrition Is Essential
This mother is not alone.
For many families across Canada, access to formula is a source of stress. Without it, babies risk inadequate nutrition and families face impossible choices. Mamas for Mamas has supported over 3,600 mothers with formula, yet consistent access remains a challenge, with costs ranging from $150/month for powder formula to $280/month for ready-to-feed formula per baby.
Introducing Our Giving Back Program

That’s why, starting in March 2026, every order placed on our Canadian website for the next six months will provide one 120ml bottle of the first ever Canadian-made baby formula, Niuriss, to families supported by Mamas for Mamas.

This program is made possible through our partnership with Niuriss, the first Canadian-made baby formula brand. Its products are manufactured in Kingston, Ontario using Canadian milk and developed with OPO lipids and GOS fiber to support digestion, nutrient absorption, and healthy growth.
