Bamboo, TENCEL™ Lyocell, and Baby Sleepwear

But most bamboo sleepwear is actually bamboo viscose, a type of rayon created by dissolving bamboo pulp and reconstructing it into fibres. The processing chemicals, not the plant itself, largely determine the fabric’s sustainability and performance.
So how does that compare to TENCEL™ Lyocell, the material we use in our sleepers, pyjamas, and many of our sleep bags? Let’s break it down.
Breathability & Temperature Regulation
Babies can’t regulate body temperature like adults, which is why breathable fabrics are essential for sleep.
TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are naturally smooth and moisture-wicking, helping draw moisture away from the skin and keep babies comfortable through naps and overnight sleep. Its fibre structure also allows for excellent airflow, making it ideal for sleepwear.
Softness for Sensitive Skin
Both bamboo viscose and TENCEL™ feel soft, but TENCEL™ fibres are engineered to be extremely smooth at the microscopic level. This reduces friction, creating a gentler sleep surface — especially important for babies with sensitive skin or eczema.
