The Smiley Sharks muslin quilt is four layers of Tanboocel® Bamboo Viscose and cotton muslin, lightly quilted through and reversible. It measures 47 by 119 cm / 47 in — wide enough to be a real tummy-time mat on a hard floor, not a token square that rucks up the moment they push against it.
Material. Four layers of Tanboocel® Bamboo Viscose blended with cotton and woven into open-weave muslin. Tanboocel® is a branded bamboo viscose made through a closed-loop process — third-party verified, with a lower water and chemical footprint than the generic bamboo rayon most brands quietly label "bamboo." Four layers give it weight and drape without making it warm; the open weave keeps air moving through it.
The print. Cream-ivory ground (navy binding) with watercolour smiling sharks — great white, whale, hammerhead, and tiger — in white, grey, and blue tones, with small fish and blue stars.
Where it earns its keep. Tummy time on a hardwood floor. Under the play gym. Over the legs in a stroller on a cool morning. Spread on the grass at a park, or over a lap during a feed. Light enough for a warm afternoon, layerable when it turns.
A note on the crib. This is not crib bedding, and we would rather say so than sell one more blanket. The Canadian Paediatric Society is direct about it: babies do not need blankets when they sleep, and a blanket in the crib can cause overheating or suffocation. Keep the crib bare and put the warmth on the baby — a wearable sleep bag does that job. The quilt is for the floor, the stroller, and your lap.
It outlasts the baby stage. Four layers of muslin soften with every wash rather than wearing thin, so the quilt that started as a tummy-time mat is usually still around as a couch blanket years later.
Care. Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. Don't bleach; iron on low only if you need to. Tanboocel® takes the dryer better than bamboo rayon, with less pilling and shrinkage over time.
Safety & certification. Tested to Health Canada's Textile Flammability Regulations, and to CPSIA and ASTM standards. The material is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and Loulou Lollipop is a Certified B Corporation.
Common questions
Can it go in the crib?
No. Loose blankets do not belong in a crib with a baby — the Canadian Paediatric Society is direct about it: babies do not need blankets when they sleep, and a blanket can cause overheating or suffocation. This is a floor, stroller, and lap blanket. For sleep, use a wearable sleep bag.
How big is it?
47 by 119 cm / 47 in — big enough to be a tummy-time mat on a hard floor now, and still a lap blanket at four.
How do I wash it?
Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. Don't bleach. Four layers of muslin come out of the dryer softer than they went in, and keep softening for months.
Is it reversible?
Yes. It's lightly quilted through all four layers and printed to be used either way up.

I bought the Vancouver world collection baby blanket (for myself) on a whim because I found it adorable and just thought it would look cute as a mini throw. This was over 5 years ago now and I sleep with it every night. It has travelled the world with me and I have a hard time sleeping without it. Extremely soft, comfortable, washable and durable. I have literally 0 complaints and hope they keep this pattern for when it’s time I have my own little one!
We bought the Vancouver blanket years ago and it’s quickly become a staple blanket in our house. It’s perfect for the chillier walks and mornings and has nice weight to it so babe falls asleep on walks.

This blanket is buttery soft and has the most beautiful pattern. It is a nice large size too. We have many blankets & this one is by far the best! The only downfall is that it ripped in the wash, however, customer service got us a speedy replacement. I would personally recommend washing with delicate cycle or hand-wash and dry on low heat to care for this fabric.

This is our 4th quilt. Love it! It’s not for a child, it’s for me. It’s so comfy that anyone can use it. Love the thickness. It’s my weighted blanket. I always have 2 on my bed. In the winter time, one is wrapped around my shoulder and covering me up alongside my duvet.
